I've just committed my life completely to better health and anti aging. I look pretty good for my age, however, menopause was a biotch ! In the very least. I put on close to 50 lbs and its not pretty. I'm 57. I have spent my life fighting father time, and have done quite well. Along came mother menopause and I'm just not on the outside, who I'm used to being.
TIME TO SHAPE UP !
I found 2 vehicles that will help me get back to the girl I know I am and love.
1. The Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy
2. Mirand Esmonde-White : Aging Backwards
Follow me in my journey ! Better yet, come with me. Lets share the wonderful journey back to our better selves.
It took me a month of preparing for the "lifestyle" I call it, of the Fast Metabolism Diet. It completely changes how and what you eat. I had to clean out my kitchen and restock it with foods that kept me within the guidelines of the diet. All in all (and I still have LOTS of plastic to replace with glass food storers !) so far, besides the book and exercise DVD's, I am in for about $350. Well worth it to avoid Dr.'s, prescriptions, old age !
I am enjoying the food. I have always loved my meat, veggies and fruits, even grains. I sincerely miss my corn and potatoes, but if that takes the bags from my waist, middle and hips; count me in !
The hardest part for me so far is the water. You drink 1/2 your weight in ounces of water per day.
ya.. thats right, 1/2 ! One trick I figured out, is I have 20 ounce containers (4) that I drink out of all day. I put them in the freezer at home and work so its cold; but I always make sure to drink one full container on the way to work (20 minutes) and one on the way home. I have to drink 6 per day (yes, 6 x 20 is 100 ! so now you know my start weight !) That knocks out 2 right there and I barely notice. The other 4? more challenging, but I can get it done.
I hope someone finds, and reads my blog, I want to help others. I have fought my weight my entire life. I was dieting in grade school and I'm not kidding.
I feel and do best at the weight of 145 to 150 lbs. I'm 5'7 and I don't want to be pencil thin, just my best "me" !
Are you coming along for the journey? Come on now, grab some water, get yourself at least the book by Hayley, as we feel lighter and better, we will add more of Miranda...
I can't wait. 2016, yep ! that's our year !
